STEP#2:

Proper Lighting Procedure

Turn the start dial 180° to the 'on' or “MAX” position. Press down the dial to release the flow of propane to the unit.

Keep pressing on the dial for ~15-35sec (or longer). Listen for the clicking sound and look for the spark and eventual blue flame of ignition on the infrared burner.

Once the burner has ignited, continue holding down the ignitor for an additional few seconds to ensure enough propane is fueling the unit upon start-up.

PRO-TIP:  Since strong winds flowing into the front of the unit may extinguish the flame be sure to angle the INFERNO facing away from any strong gusts.

STEP#3:

Igniter Cleaning

After extended use, grease can build on the inner nozzle disrupting the flow of propane to the igniter.  Remove the battery and using a bbq grill grate cleaner and a small cloth, wipe down the inside area in and around the ingniter.

STEP#4:

If you are still having difficulties with your grill, don’t panic; you may still be protected under the 1-year limited warranty.

Our NorthFire techs are happy to troubleshoot Inferno issues at our North Carolina facility. If the Inferno unit you have purchased falls outside the 30-day return window, but within our 1-year warranty, you can ship a troublesome grill to NorthFire where we will fix the issue and return the unit. On the rare occasion that our techs cannot fix your grill, a new Inferno unit will be sent in replacement.

Please note the following steps before sending an Inferno grill for troubleshooting:

  • It is the responsibility of the customer to source a shippable box, to ship the grill to our facility, and to cover the costs of freight. A potentially faulty unit can be sent to: 2880 Ridgewood Park Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.

  • The customer must contact customerservice@northfire.com to let them know a grill has been shipped and to provide tracking details. Customers must include their original purchase receipt to confirm valid warranty.

  • Upon arrival of the grill, NorthFire techs will determine any issues and will send video and picture evidence upon diagnosis.

  • NorthFire is responsible for the return of the repaired or new Inferno unit.

The entire warranty claim process may take up to two weeks. NorthFire does not accept return for refund unless the unit was purchased on www.northfire.com and falls within 30 days of purchase.

How long does it take to pre-heat?

We recommend you run your INFERNO for 3-5 min to reach 1500ºF.  Outside weather conditions may affect pre-heating times.

Why does my INFERNO go out while cooking?

Strong winds passing through the unit may cause the INFERNO to turn off.

The unit is equiped with a safety feature that prevents unwanted flare-ups due to too much air hitting the burner.  Simply re-ignite the INFERNO with the push start igniter.

PRO-TIP:  Since strong winds flowing into the front of the unit may extinguish the flame, be sure to angle the INFERNO facing away from any strong gusts.

How long does shipping take?

Once your order has been placed, our team will work quickly to provide you with a tracking number within 1 to 2 business days.  Shipping varies on geographic location but generally your order will arrive to you within 5 business days of receiving your tracking.

Can I leave my INFERNO outside in freezing temperatures?

Yes you can, though we suggest extending the life of your INFERNO by covering it with a fitted INFERNO COVER.  Shop here:

Note: In severely cold temperatures the INFERNO can take longer to preheat and reach 1500ºF

Can I convert my INFERNO to natural gas?

A propane gas model cannot be coverted to natural gas, but good news!  We offer a natural gas model!

Is the INFERNO safe for any surface?

protip2.png

PRO-TIP:  The INFERNO is a great companion to your regular barbecue and will be at home on a standard sized bbq shelf!

Though the INFERNO reaches temperature 1500ºF (or more!) and the upper surface can be extremely hot, the bottom of the unit remains cool and is safe on surfaces.  We do recommend caution if using the INFERNO for extended hours without cooling as the entire unit can then get very hot.

What is Infrared heat?

Infrared---line-drawing.png

Infrared heat works by spreading a flame across the top-mounted ceramic tile. This tile is full of thousands of microscopic holes, where the heat of the flame is essentially converted into infrared energy.

This action produces a much higher and more consistent heat than a standard gas or charcoal grill has the ability to produce; reaching upwards of 1500°F/800°C. Where the traditional gas grill heats the air flowing around the food which produces a drying effect in the air and reduces air flow, our infrared burner keeps more moisture in the heat and reduces unwanted flare-ups.

Our infrared grills cut your cook time by more than half, and will produce a caramelized crust on the outside of your protein, locking in juices and retaining moisture within your meat. Due to this intense heat and fast cook times, the INFERNO is not the sort of unit you can walk away from during the cooking process. We recommend dropping your protein to a lower rack should the sear become too intense or if the protein requires a more thorough cook (e.g. when cooking chicken, thicker cuts of protein, or when looking to achieve a more well-done result)

My INFERNO doesn't register 1500ºC / 800ºC

The first thing to be sure of is that you are letting your INFERNO preheat for 3-5 minutes.  Longer in severe cold conditions.

Secondly, if you are using a Laser Temperature Gun, most models, in the North American market, top out at a maximum reading of 600ºF or lower.  Be sure that your device is able to read temperatures higher than 1500ºF to get an accurate reading.
